Glucose Republic is a distributed metabolic intelligence company — Cardiff, UK and Perth, Australia — building the AI that predicts a person's glucose response to food. Our consumer app, GR:eat, ships on iOS and Android today. The regulated version is in scope for 2026.

§ Principles

Four things we will not trade away.

I

Decisions, not numbers.

A continuous glucose monitor is a stream of numbers. Glucose Republic exists to turn that stream into a decision — earlier, with more information, with less work for the person making the call.

The future is the question.

Sixty years of glucose measurement have been about what was. We built GR:eat to answer what will be — in ninety minutes, if I eat this — because that is the only question that can change anything.

Build the medical device, ship the wellness app.

We are building documentation, traceability and architecture appropriate to a regulated medical device from day one. The consumer product ships in parallel. The transition into a cleared device is a maturation, not a re-architecture.

IV

No moral arithmetic.

GR:eat does not score people. It scores meals. It does not award streaks or badges. It does not tell the user they have been good or bad. Its only job is to give the next decision back, with more information than was possible before.

§ Timeline

What changed, in what order.

  • 2018
    Glucose Republic founded in Cardiff.
  • 2023
    First end-to-end prediction pipeline: photograph → macros → predicted curve.
  • 2024
    CGM feedback loop closed. Two-tier model — cohort + per-user — replaces the legacy heuristic prediction path.
  • 2025
    Design History File reverse-engineered from the as-built code; 60+ requirements catalogued, traceability matrix maintained alongside the codebase.
  • 2026
    Personalised meal scoring, rule-based recommendations, prediction review (predicted-versus-actual) and the meal-coach what-if surface ship. Formal accuracy validation study and regulatory submission in scope.
§ Team

Deliberately small, and in no hurry to change that.

A founder-led team split between Perth and Cardiff, with Matt Brooks as Executive Chair, supported by clinical and regulatory advisors. We have kept headcount low on purpose — it is why the thesis has survived eight years. Names, faces and full bios are shared with partners and prospective acquirers under NDA. A public team page lands when we are ready to expand.
